Mines Games
Mines hides a handful of mines under a square board of tiles, and the player uncovers those tiles one at a time. Each tile that turns out to hold a gem raises the payout on the stake; the first tile that holds a mine finishes the round and forfeits the stake. Since the player may stop after any gem and collect, every round becomes a short run of decisions about whether one more tile is worth the risk.
Two kinds of mines game share the name. Crypto casinos run in-house versions on a formula they publish, and those are covered with the other crypto casino originals. The games on these pages come from studios that supply many casinos at once, and the share of stakes a studio game pays back is a setting offered in one or more versions rather than a fixed property of the title. Every figure in this section is therefore quoted for a stated return, never as the number of one named game.
This page walks through the round itself and the one point in it where the margin is charged; the full tables, the choice of a setup and the claims of prediction apps each have a page of their own.

How a Round Is Played
A round lasts a few seconds and follows the same order in almost every title, whatever artwork covers the tiles.
- Set the stake. The bet goes in before anything is revealed, inside the minimum and maximum that the game and the casino allow.
- Choose the mines. Most games let the player decide how many mines hide on the board, from 1 up to 24 on a board of 25 tiles. Some fix the number, and some also offer smaller or larger boards. More mines make each tile riskier and each gem worth more.
- Start the round. The mines are placed as the round begins and stay put until it ends. Nothing the player does afterwards moves them.
- Open tiles. Each click turns over one tile. A gem lifts the multiplier displayed beside the cash-out button, while a mine ends the round on the spot and the stake is lost.
- Cash out. After any gem, one press collects the stake times the current multiplier. Uncovering every gem on the board settles the round by itself at the top multiplier for that setup.
- See the board. Once a round is over, by a cash-out or by a mine, most games turn every hidden tile face up and show where each mine lay.
Two shortcuts appear on many screens. A random-pick button opens a tile of the game's choosing, and its odds match those of a tile picked by hand, a point the strategy guide takes up along with the other beliefs about tiles. An auto-bet mode replays a preset round, with the same mine count and the same number of clicks, for a chosen count of rounds or until a stop limit trips.
Buttons and Settings Worth Knowing
Labels vary between studios, and a setting missing from one game may sit under a gear icon in another.
Mines and Clicks Set the Odds Together
Two numbers decide every round: how many mines sit on the board and how many gems the player intends to collect before cashing out. With a single mine on a board of 25 tiles, the first tile turns up a gem 96.00% of the time; with 10 mines, 60.00%.
Each further tile comes from a smaller pool that still contains every mine, so the chance of a long run falls quickly. With 3 mines, collecting 5 gems in a row comes off 49.57% of the time. A game returning 97% pays 1.96x for that run, which is the fair multiplier of 2.02x trimmed by the house margin.
The two numbers can also swap places without altering the bet: 3 mines, 5 clicks and 5 mines, 3 clicks succeed exactly as often and pay the same. Each combination, with its chance and its multiplier at several returns, appears on the mines odds page, while the mines strategy guide weighs what each setup does to a run of rounds.
The Next Click Is a Fair Bet
In a mines game priced exactly by the formula, the house margin is collected once per round, on the stake, and the first tile carries all of it. A game set to 97% prices the opening click at exactly that return. Every click after it, whatever the number of mines, is priced at exactly 100.000% of the amount already riding.
Take 3 mines after one gem has been found. The next tile holds a gem 87.50% of the time, and finding it multiplies the payout by 1.1429x, precisely one divided by that chance. Collecting now and clicking once more therefore have the same average value: the extra click adds risk and adds nothing to the price.
Cashing out early is not a cheaper way to play, and pressing on is not a dearer one, because the margin was charged when the round began. The cost of a session also grows with the number of rounds rather than the number of tiles opened: at a 97% return a round loses 3% of its stake on average, whether it ends after one tile or after a full clear. An hour of play costs in proportion to the rounds it holds, which is why an auto-bet mode changes the bill and a choice of mine count does not.
When a game settles at the displayed multiplier, cut to two decimals, each step lands a little above or below fair; the odds page measures that drift.
Three Ways a Studio Can Price a Board
A game shows which model it follows on its rules or paytable screen. The chances and multipliers on these pages describe formula pricing alone.
Mines Games in the Library
This library carries more than 100 games from more than 60 studios, among them titles from Spribe, Hacksaw Gaming, Turbo Games and BGaming, each playable free on demo credits. Themes range from gem caves and gold diggings to football pitches, but the artwork reveals nothing about the price: two games with near-identical boards can run different returns, different mine ranges and different limits on a win.
Those limits matter as much as the return. A multiplier ceiling and a cash ceiling per bet are separate rules, and at a large stake the second can drag the long-run return of a high-risk setup far below the figure on the rules screen. How far, setup by setup, is shown on the odds page.
More than 30 of the reviewed casinos show a mines game in their own lobby, and they are listed further down. The list follows the guides deliberately, since knowing which pricing model a game uses matters more than knowing which lobby carries it.

Tools That Claim to Know Where the Mines Are
Bots, paid channels and downloadable apps that offer to mark the tiles hiding mines are selling knowledge the game never releases, since the board is settled when the round starts and no unopened tile is likelier than another to hold a mine. Why that holds on every board the game could deal, and how such offers are usually built, is set out on the mines predictors page.
Mines FAQ
Yes. Each game in the library opens on demo credits in the browser, with no sign-up and no deposit. A demo balance has no value and cannot be cashed, but every button and setting matches the paid game, which makes free play the place to learn how a title's board and cash-out behave.
Money changes what the limits mean. A casino picks its own lowest and highest bet inside the range the studio permits, and it may run a different return version from the demo. A ceiling on what one bet can win, often stated in money, starts to matter at larger stakes, while payout times, identity checks and deposit limits are set by the casino rather than by the game.
Studio mines games run inside a casino, through a browser or an app the casino publishes in an official store. A standalone APK passed around as a mines game, above all one that claims to reveal the board, is not a studio's product, and a sideloaded copy can hand control of the device and the logins stored on it to a stranger. Such files usually travel alongside the prediction offers described on the predictors page.
It depends on where you live. Mines is a casino game, so it falls under the same online gambling rules as slots and roulette in each country, and sometimes each state or province, and those rules differ and change. The licence a casino shows identifies its regulator, and playing at one licensed for your location is what brings local player protections into force.
Yes, at casinos that accept it. The return of a studio's mines game does not depend on whether the stake arrives in bitcoin, dollars or euros. Many crypto casinos also run in-house mines built to a published formula and checkable through seeds, a separate product with figures of its own that the crypto pages of this site cover.
